Massage and Reflexology
Massage is a treatment which aims to relax, revive and heal the body. By using manual hands-on manipulations and movement of the soft tissues and muscles in the body, a holistic body massage can work to promote healing, relaxation and enhance a person's overall well-being.
Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears correspond with different areas of the body.
The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally. Usually after a treatment, the recipient may find that tension is reduced and they might feel relaxed. They might find themselves sleeping better and find their mood and sense of wellbeing improving. They may also find that other aspects improve too; however, this happens on an individual basis.
Reflexology is also known as zone therapy; it's an alternative medicine involving the application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. I believe reflexology can help to encourage healing and relieve stress and tension. It can also be used to maintain general health and well-being.
At your first reflexology session, I’ll start by asking you a bit about your health, diet and lifestyle, and your reasons for trying reflexology. Having built up a picture of your current state of health, I’ll explain what reflexology can do to help you. It’s best to wear comfortable clothing for your reflexology session because the only clothing to be removed is socks or tights and your shoes. I’ll make sure you’re comfortable on a chair and footstool, lying down or in a recliner, and examine your feet.
The treatment involves me applying pressure to each of the reflex points. You may wish to close your eyes and relax or you might prefer to chat during your session; this is entirely up to you. I make notes following your session so that improvements can be noted at future appointments.
